Grammy-Nominated PALO! to Perform in Edmonton and Calgary, Canada
Afro-Cuban Funk Band to Play Free Concert

Miami, FL (July 8, 2015) – PALO! will be a featured act at the Fiestaval Latin Festival in Calgary, and at Cook County Saloon in Edmonton. This will be the first time that PALO! travels to Canada.

PALO! is becoming one of the hottest bands in tropical music. They will perform a show at one of Edmonton’s top live music venues, Cook County Saloon, on Thursday, July 16, followed by a set at Fiestaval Latin Festival on Friday, July 17 in Calgary

“We’re proud to be the first organization to bring PALO! to Canada.” said Cristian Muñoz of Edmonton Culture. “The audience is really looking forward to hearing this amazing band perform live. It’s going to be an unforgettable night!”

“It’s so awesome to be invited to Canada. I hope this is the first of many visits.” said Steve Roitstein, PALO!’s pianist and leader. “We’re psyched to meet our Canadian fans!”

In the last year, PALO! has attracted international recognition. They received a Grammy nomination for Best Tropical Latin Album 2015 for “PALO! Live”, which also garnered a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Tropical Album. The five-piece group has enjoyed recent sold-out shows and festivals in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Boston, and of course, their hometown, Miami. Now they can add Canada to the list.

PALO! originated in 2003, combining elements of Salsa music with funk rhythms and jazz for a distinctively seductive sound. Their shows captivate audiences with catchy songs that dancers find irresistible. In addition to Roitstein, PALO! is comprised of vocalist Leslie Cartaya, saxophonist Dr. Ed Calle, and virtuoso percussionists Philbert Armenteros and Raymer Olalde.

This band is so amazing! I’m listening to the Live album for the third time through and am dazzled! Also dazzled by the spirit that they approached the recent Calgary gig, modest audience and the cold temperature and still they smiled. They chased me down to gift me a CD and I feel very fortunate and blessed to have taken in their generous vibe. I have been listening to them for a few years and was honoured to take them in live and listening to the Palo! Live, Grammy nominated CD, I see why there is some hype around them. Well deserved. Thank you
