Grammy-Nominated PALO! to Headline Louisville’s WorldFest
Miami Afro-Cuban Funk band makes their Kentucky debut

Miami, FL (August 23, 2015) – PALO! has been chosen as a headliner for the 13th Annual WorldFest in Louisville, Kentucky. This will be the first time that PALO! performs in “The Bluegrass State”.

PALO! has emerged as one of the hottest bands in tropical music. They have been selected to close the show on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 9:30 PM. The performance will take place at The Belvedere in downtown Louisville.

“We’re thrilled to have PALO! as a headliner at WorldFest.” said Ken Clay, WorldFest Entertainment Promoter. “Everyone is really anticipating their set when they close the show on Saturday, September 5.”

“WorldFest is gonna be a blast!” said Steve Roitstein, PALO!’s pianist and leader. “We’ve heard from a lot of people in Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio, eager to check us out there. We can’t wait to play for them.”

During the past year, PALO! received a Grammy nomination for Best Tropical Latin Album 2015 for “PALO! Live”, which also garnered a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Tropical Album. The five-piece group has enjoyed recent sold-out shows and festivals in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Boston, Tampa, Canada, and of course, their hometown, Miami.

Miami is where PALO! originated in 2003, combining elements of Salsa music with funk rhythms and jazz for a distinctively seductive sound. Their live shows captivate audiences with catchy songs and spontaneous improvisation. Dancers find their music irresistible. Not surprisingly, PALO! is building an impressive fan base.

PALO! is comprised of vocalist Leslie Cartaya, who was nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2013 for Best New Artist; Steve Roitstein, keyboardist and producer known for his work with Celia Cruz, Willy Chirino, Tito Puente, Cheo Feliciano, and Oscar d’Leon, among others; legendary Latin Jazz saxophonist Dr. Ed Calle; and virtuoso percussionists Philbert Armenteros and Raymer Olalde, who bring the Cuban fire and energy that characterizes PALO!.

WorldFest, one of the region’s largest international festivals, celebrates its 13th anniversary with four days of expanded world food, music, dance, culture and education this Labor Day weekend.
